About the Job

Now accepting applications for Sixteen (16) Full – time positions available for the Managed Care department in the following counties – Whatcom (2), Skagit (2), Snohomish (2), King, Pierce (2), Thurston(2), Grays Harbor(2), Clark County(2) .

 

The primary role of the In Person Assister will be to engage in community Outreach activities promoting and providing health coverage information, education and service coordination to the general public residing in a variety of diverse community settings.  The In Person Assister is responsible for meeting all Washington State testing and certification requirements. They will work as a neutral agent in assisting consumers with their online application for health coverage, explain services covered and link them to a health home where possible. In addition they will educate the applicant regarding the results and or outcomes, confirm that consumers understand options available, any costs associated, and subsidies as applicable. They will report directly to the Managed Care Regional Coordinator.

  • Will undergo a criminal background check from the Washington State Patrol.

Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the applicant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Applicant must have excellent customer service skills. They must possess good organizational and time-management skills, demonstrate good judgment, excellent problem-solving abilities and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. The applicant must be proficient at public speaking, spelling, grammar and written communication.

 

They must be bi-lingual fluent in English and a 2nd language, with the ability to read and write proficiently in both. Legible handwriting required. This person must be of good character and maintain confidentiality. They need to be self-motivated and have an excellent work ethic, including the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. They must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

In Person Assisters will be responsible for their specific county assigned but may be required to travel to assist In Person Assisters in other counties. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

AA or BA in Social Services or Business Administration is preferred. At least 2 years of customer service experience is required; preferably in a health care environment.  Additional work experience may be substituted for some education.  Marketing and selling experience considered a plus. The applicant must be proficient in Microsoft programs specifically in both WORD and EXCEL and in general overall computer usage. The applicant must have the ability to read and interpret complex documents, reports as well as data.

 

Language Skills:

Bilingual skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff in English and in any one of the following languages, Spanish, Farsi, Russian, or Vietnamese, both orally and written.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

The applicant must have an initial TB test at hire and an annual retest. They will be provided CPR training and are required to keep their certification current.  Applicants must receive a satisfactory background check from the Washington State Patrol and must maintain a valid Washington Driver’s license, and automobile with liability insurance coverage if hired. Must pass all state required tests and obtain and retain certification by the state related to their position.
