Sea Mar Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Sea Mar hosts an annual golf tournament in order to raise funds for three purposes:
- College scholarships for children or migrant and seasonal farm workers
- Housing for migrant and seasonal farm worker families
- An annual holiday toy distribution for low-income families throughout western Washington.
Sea Mar’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament is held in August. Following the tournament, a dinner and auction is held where many generous individuals and businesses donate great items, including vacation packages, sport and cultural event tickets, art work, celebrity autographed photos, and more.
Due to the tournament, funds were available for more than 100, $1,000 scholarships were awarded in each of the past two years.

Latino/a Educational Achievement Project’s (LEAP) Annual Education Conference & Legislative Day

The annual LEAP education conference and legislative day is a three-day event held in Tacoma and Olympia. In February 2011, of 400+ participants, more than 450 were middle-school, high-school, and college students.
The three-day conference features an academic fair and a broad range of educational workshops, including ACT test preparation, college scholarships, tips for navigating college, immigration, Latinos in media, parent involvement, cultural awareness, gang prevention, student leadership activities, and more. During legislative day, students learn about civics and government, topped by a trip to Olympia to talk to their state representatives about education.
The 2012 conference is scheduled for February 23-25.

National Health Center Week

National Health Center Week, held annually during the second week of August, highlights the 45-year record of Health Centers in providing affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to all people, regardless of ability to pay.
Sea Mar is proud to be among community health centers nationally who help medically vulnerable and underserved populations in the United States. America’s community health centers now serve over 20 million people (including 925,000 farm workers and nearly 940,000 people who are homeless) in 7,000 communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam.

The annual Latino Health Forum (LHF) of Washington State convenes practitioners, researchers, community activists, and others serving Latinos in the Pacific Northwest to address pressing Latino health issues and share best practices in the areas of health care delivery, outreach, and community mobilization for policy change. Regional, national, and international experts speak to current topics during this major event which occurs during the annual Semana Binacional de Salud/Binational Health Week.
